A true story
Britain is home to more than four million breeding pairs of the robin…and one such red-breast is the charismatic, entertaining and at times poignant subject of this film
Written, Filmed and Edited by Ian Woodward FZS.
Narrator: Beth Mayoh.
“It’s cold – and I’m hungry!” he seemed to be telling us. “Being able to befriend our one-in-a-million cock robin has been a privilege” – Zenka and Ian Woodward.
One morning in early autumn the lives of English naturalist Ian Woodward and his Czech-born gardener wife Zenka are suddenly changed.
In their country garden near London they are befriended by a robin, England’s unofficial national bird.
It is the start of an amazing relationship between man and bird that would provoke smiles and induce tears.
It is a friendship that will arouse tenderness and stir up emotions of wonder, admiration and trust.
Zenka and Ian – a Fellow of the Zoological Society of London – calls the red and brown songster Silly Robin.
