Along the way, three film festivals in the United States, two in Italy and one in France have contacted Encore Films UK for permission to show the dance-drama exposé at their upcoming events. Twelve ballet academies across Europe, Scandinavia, South America and Canada have requested DVD copies of the film to screen to BA-degree students as part of their History of Dance academic studies.

And one publisher has commissioned screenwriter-director Ian Woodward to produce a book about his findings in the Tchaikovsky archives. The film has certainly exceeded all the filmmaker’s wildest expectations. In the space of just six weeks it attracted several major awards including that for Best Documentary Director at the Global International Film Festival in Maharashtra, of medical appraisals & gmc revalidation centre India’s multi-billion-dollar Bollywood film industry.

LLOYD PETCHEY AS TCHAIKOVSKY WITH ROWAN SHONE AS EDUARD ZAK

This was followed during the same period by Best Documentary Film award at the Los Angeles Film Festival, Best Foreign Short award at the Texas Ultimate Shorts Film Festival, Silver Medal for Best Documentary Short at the Pinnacle Film Awards in Hollywood, Award of Merit at the Cinema World Fest Awards in Ontario and the Bronze Medal Award at the Mindfield Film Festival in Hollywood.

LLOYD PETCHEY

Filmed in Russia and England, the dance sequence features the Serbian National Ballet’s charismatic star Lloyd Petchey as Imperial Russia’s tormented composer; and, as his pupil and muse, the up-and-coming young dancer Rowan Shone who has already won huge success with the English National Ballet in their London production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.

SIMON ALEXANDER

Simon Alexander also brilliantly reprises his Love Song acting role as the tormented composer at 29 when he wrote Romeo and Juliet and at 53 when he succumbed to a mysterious and agonizing death in St Petersburg in 1893.

THE WATFORD SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The ballet sequence for both Love Song and Tchaikovsky in Love was choreographed especially for Encore Films UK by Yat-Sen Chang, former leading dancer with the English National Ballet, to precise step-by-step instructions and dramatic motivation provided by Ian Woodward. A key role was also played by the incredible Watford Symphony Orchestra.

CINEMA PINK FOYER

Now, with its inclusion in Turkey’s acclaimed Green Valley International Film Festival and poised to make its auspicious debut at Istanbul’s glittering Cinema Pink, Tchaikovsky in Love continues the first stage of an exciting, globe-trotting and eventful year ahead.
